Created using a combination of palette knife work and expressive brushstrokes, Old Main in Summer Light captures the feeling of walking across the lawn on a warm day in Happy Valley—the American flag moving in the breeze, the tower rising above campus, and the quiet sense of history that surrounds Old Main.

Rather than focusing on architectural precision, Mosser approaches the scene emotionally, using layered color, texture, and reflected light to create a painterly interpretation of the Penn State experience.
